Marine Leather Work Cornwall
Whatever kind of boat you own it will always require some sort of protection on moving parts from chafe and UV damage.
Comfort and touch is also an important factor. Leather has been used on boats for many hundreds of years because of its longevity and durability.
Modern chrome tanned hides are particularly effective against the ravages of sun and salt water and can still feel great to the touch.
Nothing feels more secure than the grip of a leather covered wheel when you are battling with the helm in a quartering sea!
Our marine leather products for yachts and boats include:
(this is not an exhaustive list, if you have a particular item to cover in leather please call to discuss)
Mast spreader leather covers: Protect your yacht sails from chafing on your spreaders by fitting Sea Dog leather spreader covers. They’re tough and durable and save your sails from chafe.
Yacht bottlescrew leather covers: Protect your mast’s rigging bottle screws with leather. It reduces chafe on your sails and reduces any unwanted tinkering with your rig settings. Sea Dogs use quality leather that is suitable for using in a marine environment – resistant to salt water and UV damage.
Leather yacht steering wheel covers: Giving your yacht’s steering wheel a cover made of leather will not only enhance the look of the wheel but can often give a firmer grip when steering – especially useful downwind in a blow.
We are now making leather wheel cover kits, which contain pre holed leather, doubled sided tape, needles, thread and instructions.Let us know the diameter of the the wheel and rim and we will give you a quote, or go to products on line page and order your kit.
Boat tiller leather grips: Enhance the look of your tiller and make it more comfortable to handle by fitting a leather grip to it. A leather tiller grip can also provide a safer alternative to a slippery varnished tiller handle, especially useful in heavy weather.
Mast compression post leather covers: Use a leather cover to hide your yacht’s mast or compression post within the cabin.
Leather mast gators for keel stepped masts: For keel stepped masts why not use a leather mast gator where it goes through the coach roof into the cabin.
Leather gaff jaws: Lining your gaff jaws with leather reduces wear on your mast and helps with lowering and hoisting of the gaff. Sea Dogs use a durable leather to ensure you get maximum life from your gaff lining.
Leather spinnaker pole covers: Your bowman will love you forever by providing them with leather grips on the pole that not only reduce scratches and scrapes to your spinnaker pole but also make it easier to handle from deck to mast or during a windy gybe!
Running Backstay and Genoa Block Leather covers: Adding a leather cover to your runners and genoa blocks helps reduce chafe on rigging and sails but also enhances the look of the runner block or genoa car and also makes it slightly softer if accidentally knocked by heads or stubbed by toes.
Leather covered yacht tender chocks: The chocks that your tender sits in whilst at sea can be covered in leather to reduce the chafe on the tender. Also a leather covering means that whilst launching and recovering there are less chances of scratching your tender’s hull.

We also provide:
Leather covers for warps

Testimonials:
“A brief note to let you know how thrilled we are with the new upholstery. The boat looks fantastic, so your advice on the colour and style of leather was well worth seeking. We know it wasn’t a completely straight forward job and so we appreciate the end job all the more”
